[ Board Members ] [ Awards 2007 ] [ West Fair Hort Bylaws ]
History: The Society was founded in 1910 to benefit
its estate gardener and superintendent members through education,
exhibitions, discussion and public programs leading towards higher
standards of excellence in all branches of horticulture.
Membership: Membership is now quite diverse. Our
approximately 200 members include garden and landscape designers,
professional landscapers, gardening writers and educators, nurserymen,
garden center operators, estate superintendents, and avid weekend
gardeners. The membership area covers Westchester County, New York; and
Fairfield County, Connecticut. Membership in West Fair Hort is open to
anyone with an interest in horticulture.
Activities: The society
meets monthly at noteworthy horticultural locations to tour
gardens and properties of special merit, listen to prominent speakers on
subjects from Adelgids to Zygopetalum, distribute choice
plants through raffles and auctions,
conduct civic horticultural programs, and socialize and network
over member-provided refreshments.
Meetings: Meetings are generally on the second
Tuesday of every month, changing locations each time. Special programs may
be scheduled on weekends. We do not charge admission fees for members for
most meetings.
How to Join: Membership is $35.00 per calendar
year. You are invited to join the group by printing out a
membership form and sending it
along with your check.
